Weaving Niu

Alternate Root members, in coordination with local nonprofits, organize biannual coastal cleanups along protected heritage lands about a mile away.  We had a cleanup planned for 4/19/2025, for which 15 people pledged to participate.  Unfortunately, we had to cancel at the last minute because of rain.

The cleanup was going to be paired with coconut frond weaving, so we had all of this weaving material already harvested and prepared.  Four of us were willing to go out in the rain and fetch the fronds from the coast, bringing them back home to the lanai for a more comfortable afternoon weaving session.

Here is a page covering the history of our involvement with the Wai`ele property.
